In addition to this basic staff complement, the Schools require locally recruited teachers (officially called ‘part-time teachers’) for the following situations:
-
Teaching of religion. Teachers of religion are appointed by the competent authorities.
-
Filling of a post shown in the establishment table but for which the country concerned has not yet seconded a teacher.
-
Teaching of a course with an insufficient number of lessons to justify the creation of a full-time post.
-
Temporary replacement of teachers who are absent (on sick leave, maternity leave, etc.).
The Director can recruit teachers locally, on either a part-time or a full-time basis, to meet one of the above needs. The inspector will be consulted about the choice of teacher.
Each school will publish their vacancies on their own
websites. The Office of the Secretary-General does not have a say in the selection process.
The conditions of Employment for Part-time teachers is available on the
Basic texts page.
