As part of our commitment to continuous professional development and international collaboration, our institution participates in the Erasmus+ programme.

In 2024, the Office of the Secretary General of the European Schools was awarded a grant by the Belgian Erasmus+ Agency AEF for the short-term mobility project ‘Today's challenges, tomorrow's skills’ under Key Action 1.

Through this project, our staff members have taken part in training and job shadowing experiences across Europe, gaining new insights and strengthening partnerships that enhance the quality and inclusiveness of education within our network.

Job Shadowing

Job shadowing activities have offered our staff the opportunity to spend time in partner institutions abroad, observing and exchanging practices directly with peers.

These experiences have allowed participants to explore different educational systems, observe innovative methodologies, and bring back practical ideas to improve our own practices.

We are grateful to our hosts for their engagement and for creating meaningful learning opportunities that have strengthened professional connections across Europe.

Our job shadowing missions focused on:

  • Implementing Behaviour and Inclusion Frameworks at National Council for Special Education (Ireland).

  • Understanding AI governance in European education systems and promoting sustainable education practises at Division de l’innovation pédagogique et technologique du Ministère de l’Education Nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse (Luxembourg).

  • Creating and Integrating an AI vision, at Disneyland Paris (France).

  • Deepen expertise in AI law and regulation at Research Institute for Human-Centred artificial intelligence, University of Bologna (Italy).

  • Training strategy, planning and delivery methods at Sociedad de Salvamento y Seguridad Marítima, Madrid (Spain).

  • Tools and resources for e-learning opportunities & identification of common areas of interest at INTEF, Madrid (Spain).

  • Analysis of the German syllabus in computer science at European School, Munich (Germany).

  • Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development at Ufficio Scolastico Regionale – Regione Toscana, INDIRE and University Roma Tre (Italy).

  • Management of complaints involving vulnerable groups at Defensor del Pueblo - Spanish Ombudsman, Madrid (Spain).

Training Courses

The training mobilities enabled participants to attend structured courses tailored for education professionals, providing valuable opportunities to exchange practices with peers from other educational systems, enhance their skills, and explore innovative approaches to teaching, management, and wellbeing.

Through this international exchange, participants broadened their perspectives on educational challenges and solutions, gaining new ideas to adapt and apply within our own context. The courses addressed a wide range of themes relevant to today’s educational landscape, including both pedagogical innovation and staff development:

  • Inclusive teaching with artificial intelligence

  • AI-Powered content creation for educators

  • AI-Enhanced learning experiences: the future of education

  • AI assessment methods

  • AI and Digital Solutions for School Leaders and Staff

  • European project management and design

  • Public speaking and presentation skills

  • Stress management

  • How to deal with burnout for teaching and non-teaching staff

Impact and Dissemination

The knowledge and practices acquired through these mobilities are being shared within our school community through internal workshops, collaborative sessions, and integration into ongoing pedagogical initiatives.

By sharing our experiences, we aim to inspire further participation and foster a culture of continuous learning across our network.
